Reasons Calgary is Student-friendly 

If you’re a student and researching good cities to study in, Calgary should definitely be on your list. It’s such a good environment that’s conducive for learning. 

In this article, we rounded up reasons why Calgary is a student-friendly place. Check them out below:

Calgary is home to some of the best schools in the country. From nursery and preschool to elementary school, they really focus on the children’s education here. 

We also have a quality and competitive high school curriculum  and some of the best colleges to go to.  

If you prefer private schooling or homeschooling, Calgary has some options you can try as well. We even have tutoring services you can hire in case additional help is needed. 

Everything is accessible here, making it a great place to learn and grow. 

2. The city is very walkable. 

As it is rare for students to have cars, you’ll be pleased to know that the city is very walkable. There’s not a lot of pollution in Calgary and it is a pretty safe place.  

The crime rates are low and it’s a good and secure environment for you to be in, so you do not need to worry. 

3. The city has a lot of places to study in.

In Calgary, you have access to top-notch resources to help you ace that test or research project. There are a lot of libraries, coworking spaces, and even cafes you can work in as well. 

In these places, you get to check out a lot of books, records, computers, and other important resources you might need. 

Some libraries worth checking out are Louise Riley Library, Forest Lawn Library, Shawnessy Library, Village Square Library, and Sage Hill Library. 

4. There are a lot of extracurricular activities available. 

Extracurriculars are important in order to ensure your holistic development. It’s a good thing Calgary has so many classes and activities available that you can do outside of school. 

If you’re into music and want to learn instruments, you can have lessons on piano, violin, or guitar. You can even take voice lessons or join a choir. 

If you’re into sports, you can try hockey, ice skating, skiing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, and other activities. 

Whatever interest or skill level, there’s something in Calgary for you. 

5. There are a lot of restaurants.

If you’re a college student, there are a lot of restaurants available in the city if they don’t allow cooking in your dorm room. You don’t need to survive on just ramen noodles alone. 

You can eat seafood, vegan food, pizza, and burgers. There are also Spanish restaurants, Vietnamese restaurants, and even Mexican restaurants you can try.
