Jurees Thai Place is a great Thai restaurant in Calgary. They serve a lot of our favorites, which are fried spring rolls, hot & sour prawn soup, green curry, and such.
Because you need to walk for 18 minutes to get to the McMahon Stadium from here (or 2 minutes by car), it’s a little further away than the other dining options. That said, trust us when we say it’s worth the detour.
What to Expect from a Stampeders Game in Calgary
Huge Crowds
Since Stampeders games always attract a lot of sports fans, expect there to be a huge crowd. To give you an idea, it’s normal for games to sell around 22,000 to 25,000 tickets!
No Parking Slots
Because parking is currently sold out, if you don’t have any parking passes for the McMahon Stadium, you can’t park there anymore.
There’s a long waiting line for it, but they’ve also stopped taking down names for it, so it’s best to just hop on a taxi or the C-train when going to the stadium.
Delicious Concession Foods and Beverages
As mentioned, there are plenty of delicious eateries around the area. However, you always have the option to buy quick bites from the concessions in the stadium.
You can choose from poutines, popcorn chickens, beef tacos, and more. There are even alcoholic beverages being sold in the venue like margaritas and spiked apple ciders and lemonades.
How to Prepare for a Stampeders Game in Calgary
Wear a red shirt or red clothing
The Stampeders’ official color is red, which is why if you’re supporting the team, it’s a must to wear the color as much as possible.
You can don Stampeders jerseys, hats, and t-shirts – get creative! Some even paint their faces, so that’s an option too.
Do note however, that wearing green isn’t allowed unless you want to be booed by the fans.
Get there early
Since there are plenty of people watching the game, it’s best to get there early. That way, you can get comfy and also easily find your seat before the commotion commences.
There’s also often a line at the concessions, but the early bird catches the worm!
