My go-to order at Tres Marias Mexican Food is their delicious selection of 3 double tacos, each packed with amazing flavors and fresh ingredients. But when I’m in the mood for something tangy, I opt for the Fish Tacos that’s served with chipotle mayo and avocado gallo salsa.
Another standout is the Barbacoa taco with its slow-cooked, marinated shredded beef. It pairs perfectly with cilantro, lime, salsa, and guacamole on fresh corn tortillas!
For those craving something smoky, the Carne Asada features grilled marinated sirloin, while the Pork Pastor combines marinated pork with dried chilies and sweet pineapple. They’re all served on gluten-free corn tortillas.
The veggie taco option features sautéed mushrooms, cactus, and tomatoes. This one’s a great option for our plant-based diner friends!

Chilitos Taberna is a relaxed cantina in Calgary known for its vibrant atmosphere, full bar, and classic Mexican eats. While it may be a little on the pricey side (approximately $20 to $30 per person), the overall experience is worth it.
During a recent dinner, we started with chips and guacamole, which were fresh and flavorful. I opted for the shrimp tacos, and my friend had the beef tacos – both were excellent, with generous portions and perfectly balanced flavors.
One of the highlights here is their unique patio, which offers a cozy yet refreshing experience even on cooler days. The powerful heaters make it comfortable to dine outside during warmer winter afternoons, providing a nice place for a cozy lunch.

Don Taco is serving up delicious, Mexican street-style tacos with a unique twist – packed to-go in a pizza box! This cozy, hole-in-the-wall spot offers a range of flavorful options, perfect for a casual meal or a quick bite.
We sampled all the tacos, and my favorites were the Carnitas and Baja Fish, both packed with fresh flavors. The vegetarian option, featuring poblano peppers and black beans, was surprisingly flavorful and satisfying.
Special mention goes to the crispy churros, which were the perfect end to the meal!
Don Taco also offers a full range of Jarritos drinks and some fantastic homemade salsa. Their salsa is a must-try! It’s so good that you’ll want to grab an extra package and a side of tortilla chips to take home.
They don’t take reservations, though, and have a laid-back and no-fuss vibe. It’s just a nice spot for a spontaneous happy hour or quick dinner.
