After a lifetime of hard work and caring for others, our beloved seniors deserve more than just retirement. They deserve a vibrant, fulfilling new chapter in their lives. If I could provide that to my parents, I would, but sadly, my hectic life prevents me from doing so.
Thankfully, there are assisted living centres, places where seniors can live their lives comfortably while never being too far from receiving care and support from professional medical professionals and carers should they need it.
If you’re in the same boat as me or if you’re a senior citizen looking to enjoy life more, you’ll definitely want to check out these amazing assisted living centres in Calgary!
How much does living in an assisted living centre cost in Calgary? On average, living in an assisted living centre in Calgary costs $4,500 per month. However, your price may vary based on several factors, including the specific facility, amenities offered, and level of care required. |

1. Verve Senior Living
Address: 1111 Glenmore Trail SW
Phone number: +1 403-253-7576
Business hours: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (MON-SUN)
Verve Senior Living, a trusted name in senior care since 1980, offers a range of services designed to enhance the lives of older adults. They are one of the more accessible options available, as they have six locations in Alberta.
The thing I love the most about them is the impressive quality of their facilities and amenities. Patients who are in assisted living can enjoy extensive wellness programs that encourage them to live healthier lives through yoga, exercise, and escorted outdoor activities.
Verve Senior Living also utilises modern technologies like Continyou Care, which records a patient’s meal preference, allergens, and order history, to ensure every patient can enjoy healthy eating at all times.
Sadly, it seems some of their facilities are suffering from high turnovers. That can sometimes lead to inconsistencies in the quality of care they can provide, so beware.
Pros
- More than 40 years of experience
- Offers extensive wellness programs
- Uses Continyou Care to record patient info
- Six locations in Alberta
Cons
- Some of their facilities have problems with high turnover rates
- Tends to get fully booked quickly

I feel very comforted that my parents are so well cared for
“I moved my parents to Trinity Lodge this spring. A very welcoming environment.
Everyone there is very helpful, caring and friendly, meeting all our needs.
Edlyn and Paolo’s professionalism is outstanding. There are many activities to be involved in and the meals are delicious. They’re room is very bright and faces a courtyard. I feel very comforted that my parents are so well cared for.”

It is a beautiful, peaceful place to call home
“Moving my mom into TL was the best decision we could have made. It is a beautiful, peaceful place to call home and not only have they welcomed my mom into the family but me as well. It does feel like family. The food? Delicious and enough cannot be said about the soup at lunch. Divine! I could rave about every member of the staff we have had contact with but as the list is lengthy I will just say that for each interaction we have always been treated with respect, kindness and every effort made to help if help is needed. There are so many different ways for the residents to get involved and meet other residents with a fun variety of activities/outings/socials/entertainment that try to resonate with different personalities and interests. TL really are committed to the comfort and happiness of their residents and families and do everything they can to maintain the high quality of care they obviously value.”

2. Optima Living
Address: 6 Sage Hill Gardens NW
Phone number: +1 403-455-2273
Business hours: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM (MON-SUN)
For a unique assisted living experience, you can check out Optima Living. Founded in 2007, they have a resident-centred approach to their services, where patients are encouraged to exercise their independence while still having easy access to professional help if they need it.
Their policy has led to them winning the Sensight Surveys 2023 Resident Satisfaction Five Star Award, which is a huge achievement.
Another thing I respect about them is their inclusion of massive libraries in every facility they handle in Alberta. These libraries cover plenty of topics, like health, fitness, and creativity, that may help improve their patients’ well-being and serve as a healthy source of recreation.
However, one thing I dislike about Optima Living is that many of their assisted living facilities are located on the edges of Calgary. That can make it hard for their patients’ families to visit them regularly.
Pros
- 17 years of experience
- 3 assisted living centres in Alberta
- All of their centres feature massive libraries
- Winner of the Sensight Surveys 2023 Resident Satisfaction Five Star Award
Cons
- Most of their facilities are far from the city centre
- Sometimes forgets to respond to calls and emails

This is a wonderful place for my Mom
“My Mom has been in Sage Hill Retirement Residence for more than 2 years – the staff and caregivers in this building are caring, attentive and have been extremely diligent, not only throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, but always. This is a wonderful place for my Mom – we feel she is safe and well cared for always.”

The suites are comfortable and the open areas are bright and cheerful
“Tess & I have lived in Sage Hill Retirement Residence for about 18 months.
The structure is well built. The suites are comfortable and the open areas are bright and cheerful. However, the most important asset in this complex is the staff, who are cheerful and upbeat, making each day a reason to be alive.”

3. All Seniors Care
Address: 21 Auburn Bay St SE
Phone number: +1 403-234-9695
Business hours: Available 24/7
All Seniors Care is a reputable name in senior care that currently operates two locations in Calgary. Their skilled staff can provide independent living, assisted living, and memory care services.
The first thing I noticed about them was their impressive suites, which feature spacious rooms with balconies or terraces, individual heating and air conditioning controls, and fully accessible bathrooms.
Another thing worth mentioning about All Seniors Care is that they ensure every senior they care for remains fit and active throughout their golden years.
That’s because they have an annual competition called the Seniors Games where their patients can participate in a healthy mix of physical and mental games like ladderball, shuffleboard, and card games.
Unfortunately, they’re one of the more expensive options you’ll find on this list. You can check for yourself whether their price is worth it by contacting them for a free tour of their facilities.
Pros
- 2 locations in Calgary
- State-of-the-art suites
- Promotes a healthy lifestyle via their annual Seniors Games
- Offers free tours of their facilities
Cons
- Above-average prices
- Small food portions

4. Covenant Care
Address: 70 EvansPark Manor
Phone number: +1 587-230-7070
Business hours: Available 24/7
Covenant Care is a Catholic not-for-profit organisation in Calgary that has been serving seniors since 2013. As they don’t intend to profit from their operations, their prices are relatively affordable when compared to other assisted living centres in the city.
Currently, they have three centres in Calgary that can provide personalised care plans to seniors. They emphasise holistic care by improving a patient’s mental, emotional, and spiritual health as a means of also improving their physical health.
As you’ve probably noticed, I mentioned spiritual health. As a Catholic-run organisation, Covenant Care has its own spiritual care team made up of chaplains and volunteers who can help seniors in their daily worship and meditation.
What’s also great about them is that they allow overnight stays for their patients’ visitors if notified in advance.
Based on what I’ve heard, the only problem with them is the unimpressive food they serve.
Pros
- 11 years of experience
- 3 locations in Calgary
- Can provide spiritual assistance
- Allows overnight stays for visitors
- Competitive prices
Cons
- Bland food
- Limited parking space for visitors

The level of care is excellent
“We are very happy with the care provided for our mom with Holy Cross Manor. Everyone, including staff, families, volunteers, and residents, contribute to a safe environment of quality care. The level of care is excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend it to everyone.”

Mom really enjoyed all the activities and outings
“My Mom lived here for two years until she fell and needed to move into a Long Term care facility. During her time here she made many friends. The Doctor, nurses and staff were wonderful and Mom really enjoyed all the activities and outings. The only complaint Mom had was that the food wasn’t the best. I’m sad that she had to leave and would recommend this home to anyone looking for assisted living for their loved one.”

5. Cambridge Manor
Address: 253 Smith St NW
Phone number: +1 587-391-3500
Business hours: Available 24/7
Cambridge Manor is a 240-unit seniors’ residence that was built by the West Campus Development Trust in tandem with the Brenda Strafford Foundation in 2020. They can cater to a wide range of needs as they can provide assisted care, enhanced care, and memory care.
It’s amazing to see that they feature some of the best facilities and amenities you’ll find on the list. They have a Red Seal chef, 24/7 wellness support, a beauty salon, a fitness room, and an onsite pharmacy.
But what I really love about them is that they’re a pet-friendly centre, so seniors are free to bring their fur babies along during their stay here! They also have a courtyard where seniors can spend some quality time outdoors with their pets.
However, I didn’t like finding out that some of their staff members were rude towards patients.
Pros
- Near a major expressway
- State-of-the-art facilities and amenities
- Pet-friendly environment
- On-site pharmacy
Cons
- Some rude staff
- Less than 5 years running
