This fall, the annual award-winning outdoor Halloween event, Pumpkins After Dark is coming to Calgary yet again! The event starts on September 22 and lasts until October 31, so you have plenty of time to catch it with your family.
You can find this event at WinSport, Canada Olympic Park. Look for the main entrance at the Festival Tent.
There are a lot of public parking spots and even public transit options so getting to the event isn’t difficult.
The whole event is a result of the vision of James Fraser, the “chief pumpkineer”, and Joe Millana, the creative director.
You can expect to see a beautiful pathway filled with various pumpkin sculptures and displays. To add to the experience, there will be music, sounds, and other special effects that kids will enjoy.
The pathway is roughly 1 km, most guests spend around 45-90 minutes at the show. It’s a self-paced event, however, so you can take your time and take photos.
It’s a one-way walk-through, you will not be allowed to re-enter once you leave.
You’ll also get the chance to see dinosaurs, Halloween characters, dragons, movie, and pop culture icons, and so much more.
Lovers of all things spooky and Halloween will surely enjoy the display and attractions here, including live pumpkin carving demonstrations that you can watch with friends and family.
Tickets for the event can be purchased online. Do note that there are no on-site ticket sales.
You may book your tickets here. Tickets for young people aged 4-16 are $17.95, while tickets for adults are $21.95.
Kids under three years old can enter the park for free. No tickets are required.
You can also avail of the family pack for $74.80, which includes two adult admission tickets and two tickets for the youth.
After completing your purchase of the tickets, you’ll get a confirmation email and the tickets will be attached.
Tickets are date and time-specific, so plan accordingly. Should you need to exchange your ticket for another time and date, you can do so until October 1.
Additional ticket change fees may apply, however. Tickets are non-refundable but transferable to friends and family.
On the day of the event, you’re allowed to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your time slot. If you’re late for the event, they’ll try to fit you in another time slot, but access is not guaranteed.
If you’re wondering about the accessibility of the park, there are various degrees of wheelchair accessibility. It is recommended for guests to have assistance that will help them navigate the pathways.
Warning: The event has strobe, bright, and flashing lights. This show may not be suitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy.
