When it comes to most stores, we’re always on the lookout for one-stop shops so we can get everything we need in one go. We already had a good start with Fair Deal Furniture as they have pieces for the living room, bedroom, dining room, and even the office.
However, we believe that having a wide variety of products isn’t as good as it sounds if they aren’t of high quality. Fortunately, after a series of quality inspections done by our expert team, we found their products to be of a good standard.
On that note, we also found out that they source their furniture pieces directly from the factory. This is something we usually expect from big furniture chains, which is also why they’re able to sell at more favorable prices compared to boutiques.
Actually, they’re partnered with many international manufacturers and although we love local, global sourcing is a good hint of high quality. And this allows customers to browse through even more options.
Speaking of browsing, we did have a great time going through their online store, seeing so many pieces on sale that are payable through installments. The in-store experience is pretty okay, but here the flip side of having many choices appears: the selections are so overwhelming that it can get tiring.
The shipping process itself is also a bit wonky – we even found complaints of damaged products upon delivery when we surveyed their customers. On the bright side, we did learn that they always send out repair personnel or simply replace the product right away.

Showhome Furniture was recommended to us by a lot of people for fast delivery and assembly. We decided to spend a little while with them and we’re happy that they lived up to expectations.
First off, the thing that enables them to ship items fast is their partnership with Kid Gloves Courier. Actually, they’re partnered with other local couriers which ensures two things – one, clients can choose a preferred courier, and two, they can reach more locations than most.
If you ask us, though, the thing that sets them apart from their competitors is their complimentary furniture design consultation. The store has certified designers who do room layouts, fabric selection, and even arrange installation.
Anything free is notorious for being of low quality, but we experienced a seamless consultation process here. We found them pleasant to work with – no one’s pushy with sales and everyone’s knowledgeable in their own game.

We love Murphy’s Mid-Century for one simple reason – they’re owned by artistic curators who collaborate with different craftspeople in the city. With that in mind, it’s not astonishing that they have a reputation for producing unique furniture pieces at high standards.
They curate modern furniture and decor from the 1950s and 1960s, with an emphasis on Danish Modern and Scandinavian design. So, it goes without saying that this shop is a good option for those looking for vintage-style furniture.
We also appreciate that, unlike the majority of the furniture stores on our list, they specialize in specific types of furniture. Looking at their portfolio, it’s clear that they’re focused on seating, dining, social spaces, and decor – all with an antique vibe, of course.
We were curious as to how they keep so many items in stock at all times, and it turns out that the store buys furniture (old or new) from whoever wants to sell theirs. Then they do various refinishing and restoring projects too.
Actually, they offer such services whenever customers request them prior to purchasing. On top of that, their customer care is also solid: we were happily welcomed by the owners during our visit, despite not having made a purchase.

Canvas + Loft has a massive inventory of over 7,000 products to choose from. But that’s not the only thing we like about them – they originally piqued our interest with their overall service and prices, actually.
First of all is their 24/7 online shopping, which is not necessarily something new, but their easy-to-navigate online platform is a sure favorite among our staff. Everything is in there: price, size, description, and customer reviews to help you decide what to purchase.
Then there’s their price-match guarantee, where they’ll beat any lower retail advertised price you find in the city (you just have to bring the ad that says so). However, certain conditions apply, so make sure to contact the store for more information on that matter.
Plus they offer really affordable prices for normally heavy-priced products. Comparing our shopping trips, Canvas + Loft was up to 50% less expensive than their competitors on the same items.
The drawback in this is that you’ll likely never get very unique furniture pieces – you’d have to look at higher-end stores for that. On the good side, if you don’t mind standard-manufactured pieces, this is a good place to start.

EQ3 Calgary, like their other locations across the country and in New York, offers various modern furniture and home goods. Their physical store also has a calm and welcoming atmosphere that made our shopping experience very homey.
Their friendly staff was an important part of the experience, as they assisted us by giving product recommendations. They even have excellent design advice, which we find helpful for customers with zero interior knowledge.
Now, what’s unique about them is that they design, manufacture, and sell their own products. They don’t purchase their items from other large furniture manufacturers, ensuring better quality for each produced piece.
On top of that, EQ3 can also customize furniture types, whether they’re for the living room, dining room, office, or bedroom. Looking at their profile, we find them best suited for curating living room sets, what with their ever-popular modular seating designs.
Obviously, we weren’t surprised to hear that they charge a bit on the pricey side for this kind of product and service. However, we only heard this from a few past clients as the furniture store isn’t very forthcoming about their prices.
A bit of good news though: they offer flexible payment options allowing customers to divide their fees into six monthly payments. If you really want exclusively-made pieces for your home, it will be a nice cost-effective option for you.

For anything vintage, Kollektion might be a good start for you. They have a great selection of mid-century modern and vintage furniture and decor from globally-known brands and famous Danish designers – truly retro stuff.
Our trip to Kollektion was as stellar as their store’s ambiance and customer service. Everyone was welcoming and really accommodating despite the store being packed with customers who, by the way, we’ve heard travel from surrounding Calgary areas.
As the majority of their pieces are vintage, we kind of expected to see some wear, both cosmetic and structural. That’s why we appreciated that they were open about flaws in the pieces and didn’t try to hide them from us.
In line with this, we’d like to note how beautifully they restored each of their items. We had our expert team take a closer inspection and they found nicely done repairs that didn’t compromise the antique qualities of the pieces.
However, we found their selections to be extremely limited, and because everything is vintage, they only have one piece of each item in stock. The good news is that Kollektion at least assists their clients in sourcing the piece they’re looking for.
Despite having a small range of furniture pieces, people sure keep coming back to them, as evidenced by the flock of customers they had during our visit. Well, large collection or not, we’re confident you’ll like it here if the vintage design is what you’re going for.

Country Living Furnishings & Design is a locally-owned store with a special place in our hearts for their long-lasting sense of homey furniture. All of their products are also designed and manufactured in Canada, which meets our standard for good quality.
They’re particularly into customizing all sorts of furniture so we weren’t surprised to find limited furniture items in their store. In fact, their place doesn’t have so much of a furniture store vibe in it, though their artistry is still very evident.
If flexibility in styling and designing concerns you, Country Living is versatile enough to accommodate all desired design styles. Knowing this, they’re a strong option if you’re more into customization than standard designs.
In-home consultations are available, which we recommend with this type of service. Through this, the shop will go through the client’s space and specific needs which highly personalizes the experience.
There was just a small hiccup as their staff are rarely punctual for on-site consultations. This is also why many of their clients (based on our conversations) consider just dropping by their store for the said service.
We wouldn’t be so open in reviews if these flaws didn’t reflect on our score sheet, so expect us to make a big deal about it. However, given high-quality work and in-depth customization, we still find a reliable and efficient shop.

It’s actually not difficult for us to review Metro Element because the majority of our team members had purchased from this store even before we started doing this review. So, most of us had our own experiences with them, and most of them were positive.
For a quick background, the store has been serving Calgary with its selection of furniture, home decor, and design consultations since 2005. It came as a surprise to us that they now offer furniture customization, which just complements their design expertise.
Speaking of which, Metro Element caters to each individual client’s preferences, whether they are modern, industrial, mid-century, or rustic. Versatility-wise, we’re pretty happy since other shops only specialize in certain designs.
Our team compared notes, and it’s important to point out that we were all pleased with the assistance provided by the store. Their staff were gracious with their time and didn’t rush us out even though we had been strolling through their store for some time.
On top of that, they didn’t try to sell us anything in the store unless we specifically asked. Of course, we took the time to see if they had any special offers and we find them slightly generous in this regard.
We like that they always have products on sale too, but the problem is that they’re mostly available only for online purchases. Nonetheless, it’s worth noting that they may be a little pricey, so not being able to take advantage of the sale may be a stumbling block for some.

When it comes to that, it’s a plus for us that the store offers great convenience since they work fast at a steady pace. The process is actually pretty simple from start to finish, with the clients kept in the loop at all times.
They also do a final sitting test in their store (as we saw during our trip to Calgary Interiors) where clients try out the furniture they ordered to customize the feel just for them. It’s definitely a nice touch since it ensures that pieces are made up to client standards.
Strolling through their showroom, we were impressed with the range of their lineup, which was made possible by their experienced team of creators. Big, small, modern-styled, or vintage-ish – you name it and they can build it to your preference.
Now, another huge deal for us is the fact that the store does custom upholstering for various businesses (restaurants, for example). This implies that they have a large source of manpower, allowing them to work on any project.
Perhaps the thing they lack compared to other furniture stores is that they don’t appear to be available for online purchase. We understand this, however, because they primarily customize, though their showroom is open for a closer look at their sample items.
