The 5 Best Cat Boarding Services in Calgary – From Affordable to Luxury Options

Comfortable Accommodations: We selected cat boarding services in Calgary that offer cozy and clean accommodations. Places with spacious rooms, soft bedding, and maybe even a view for bird-watching are ideal.

Personalized Attention: We looked for facilities that provide personalized attention to each cat. Whether it’s playtime, grooming, or just cuddles, knowing that your cat is getting individualized care makes a huge difference.

Safety and Security: Safety was a top priority, so we chose cat boarding services with secure facilities and trained staff. From sturdy enclosures to strict health protocols, ensuring your cat's well-being is paramount.

Enrichment Activities: We prioritized cat boarding services in Calgary that offer enrichment activities to keep cats stimulated and happy. Features such as interactive toys, climbing structures, and designated play areas provide mental and physical exercise.

I’m sure you’ve had that one summer when your bags are already packed, but you can’t be fully happy because your cat is giving you that stink eye as you drop him off at the cat boarding. And I’m sure you’ve also tried consoling yourself by thinking he’ll at least be treated like a king while you’re gone.

The thing is, sometimes a cat boarding place is more hell than heaven, where cats get stressed to the point that they’ll give you the cold shoulder. That’s why finding a reliable place that can accommodate all your cat’s needs is essential.

And not to flex, but we may just have the list of the most amazing cat boarding services in Calgary right here!

How much does cat boarding cost in Calgary?

The average cost of cat boarding in Calgary ranges from $20 to $50 per day. Additional services, such as food and training, can increase the cost of boarding.

Opening Hours: Monday – Sunday: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM

When arriving home from a long vacation, we want to see our cats immediately, which is what we found great about A Feline Inn. Their Kennel is only 10 to 12 minutes from Calgary airport, so you can go straight to your pet the moment you land.

Another one of our favorite things about it is that its facilities were designed as if they were living rooms. They have a 42” plasma TV that plays movies to imitate a typical home setting.

The large windows and skylight view also caught our attention, as they allow cats to view outside and watch the birds that fly by. Additionally, they also take cats for walks in their garden to get acquainted with the area and not feel trapped inside the cattery.

What sets them apart from other cat boarding is their free diabetic shot and medical services for cats with non-transmittable diseases (cats with transmittable diseases, like lice or viruses, are not allowed in their facility).

Their price range also falls on the cheaper side of the average cat boarding rate. They charge only $20 for one cat and an additional $10 for a second cat sharing the same space.

The only downside we found is their no-walk-in policy, which will not be suitable for cat owners facing emergencies. Call ahead to secure a spot when planning your getaway.

Pros

  • Skyline and large windows
  • Fully airconditioned
  • Alarmed and monitored by CCTV
  • Close to the airport
  • Pick-up and delivery services offered
  • No extra charge for medical admission
  • Free diabetic shot
  • Relatively cheap

Cons

  • No walk-in policy

Loves and understands cats

“I have been booking my 2 cats with Melanie for many years! Melanie loves and understands cats. She even took Derry to the vet when she needed to. It is stressful for my cats to leave home, but they are used to “A Feline Inn”. Melanie has a great set up. The spaces are large, they have filtered air (air conditioning in the summer). She has a large TV screen for the cats to watch birds and squirrels. Melanie has figured out that they like their cat carrier inside their space with a fluffy blanket from home. My cats also receive their medicine from Melanie, and she taught me the best way to give it to them.

Professional and caring

“I cannot say enough about A Feline Inn. I struggled to leave my cats with anyone but myself as my one cat takes medication 7 days a week until I met Melanie & Ted at A Feline Inn. They are both so professional & caring & kept me up to date daily while I was away from them. There facility is very clean & warming and knowing it was monitored every second of every day was such a reassurance to me. I will forever be grateful for this couple and their business. As long as my cats are alive this is where they will stay when mommy is away. Thank you Melanie & Ted! Kitty Customers for life!”

While most cats prefer to be solitary, some are friendlier, which is why we considered Cat’s Meow Inn. It is a common place where cats can get to know each other, play, or simply relax.

Their kennels are noteworthy. They feature three adjustable levels for food and water dishes and a soft bed – perfect for cats with different feeding needs and sensitive sleeping preferences.

Dimension-wise, their kennels are big, with a width of 3.5 feet, a depth of 4 feet, and an additional 18-inch compartment underneath. This ensures that they can accommodate any cat size while still having space for their beloved toys.

They offer feeding twice a day, playtime with their personnel, and cleaning of your cat and their kennel. There aren’t many toys, as they encourage owners to bring their own for the cat’s comfort.

They are also low-priced, ranging from $21 to $25. Adding another cat gives you 50% off. Furthermore, senior cats are given the lower rates, at around $20.

Pros

  • Has a common place for cats
  • Big kennels for all cat sizes
  • Cheaper prices
  • Offers grouped or individual activities
  • Accommodates senior cats

Amazing, professional, and compassionate staff

“Our Cat Bagheera has always been taken care of at Cats Meow Inn. Tara is amazing, our Bagheera comes back home relaxed, happy and healthy. We recently had an extended stay for him and Tara and her staff took extremely good care of our fur baby. They are professional, compassionate and very caring. I can not think of any other cattery for our Bagheera- Thank you so much  Its a home away from home for him. He is always excited when we take him to Tara for his stays. Excellent service.”

Communicated well and are accommodating

“A great facility – clean, the kitty condos are spacious and most of them have windows! – with plenty of space for the cats to roam during their playtime. Tara did a great job with my cat while he was there, even though he ended up experiencing medical problems; she communicated with me frequently and often, worked with me to try and coax him to eat, and coordinated with one of my family members locally to arrange for him to be picked up and taken to his regular vet. She made sure a stressful situation (my cat being ill while I was in a different country and time zone) was not nearly as stressful as it might have been. I highly recommend this cattery!”

For more high-end cat boarding, we looked into Petfinity. Their facilities are much more luxurious than other cat boarding we visited, offering 3 different types of boarding depending on how many cats you’ll be bringing in.

What we found great about Petfinity are their soundproof kennels, which are great for solitary animals like cats. Their kennels are also quite spacious and can be adjusted depending on how many cats you will be checking in.

The three boarding options they offer include the Meow Manor, which costs $30 for a single night and $26 per night for more than seven nights. Their Meow Estate, which can house two cats, costs $32 to $36, while Meow Mansion for four or fewer cats costs $38 to $42 a night.

The kennels are equipped with climbing equipment such as hanging shelves, scratch posts, and mats. The high ceilings and logs are perfect for climbing and are ideal for the cats’ playful tendencies.

On the downside, they’re a bit pricey for a cat boarding. For additional services like medicine and supplement admission, you will have to add an additional $2, while a vet injection will cost $10. But considering their high-end quality facilities and services, we’d say it’s worth the price

Pros

  • Offers 3 different cat housing options
  • Bigger cat houses compared to other boarding
  • Soundproof kennels
  • Well-equipped kennels
  • Additional pet care services are available

Cons

  • Pricey

Amazing and helpful staff

“Rented the event room and couldn’t be happier. The staff was amazing and helpful. The event room was perfect and had everything we needed. The indoor off leash areas were great to let the dogs stretch their legs. Just an overall pleasure to have found this place.”

Knowledgeable and accommodating staff

“My babies had the best time here! At drop off my cats were taken to the Meow Manor right away, away from any dogs. My one cat has quite a few medical issues and the managers were willing to clarify any questions they had about his medications well I was at the facility so they knew how to best care for him over his stay.”

If you’re going on vacation, you may want to leave your cat in something that also screams getaway trip! What we love about Poshpaws is that it is not simply a cat boarding facility – it’s a cat resort offering high-quality, eco-friendly suites with thermal heating.

Their common area doesn’t have carpets. Instead, the floors are made from metallic epoxy for both hygiene and style. They’re matched with heated floors and an air purification system that ensures your cat breathes clean air.

Aside from the thermal mattresses, each suite is also equipped with faux fur blankets, stainless steel bowls, and a litter box. Its area is big, 3’x3’.5” x 4’.5”, and each is insulated with Rockwool Safe & Sound insulation.

Each of their kennels also has windows for a great view of the outdoors, which is great for birdwatching. Services-wise, we love that they offer complimentary nail trimming and brushing upon request.

Comfortable and inviting place for cats

“When I went out of town for work and I had to leave my Henri behind, I was so happy to find posh paws to watch my beloved cat. Very comfy place and inviting for any cat to feel welcome and secure. Thanks Myrna. Henri will be back no matter what is going on for me or yourself”

— Robert Holt | Google Reviews

Impressive facilities for cats

“Really impressed by Poshpaws Luxury Cat Resort. We had our two cats stay for a long weekend and there were no issues with their stay despite never having been at a cattery before. They both really appreciated the ability to sit out on a catio and watch the nearby birds and wildlife. My partner and I felt really good about their safety and Myrna made sure that our older cat was provided his medicine.

For anyone looking for somewhere to board their cat(s), this is a place that I would highly recommend.”

For a more fun-filled cat boarding experience, we considered The Petropolital, which offers activity packages in Gold and Silver.

Their Gold Package offers premium bedding and three free-roaming sessions in the cat-only activity room. It also comes with a digital report card for your cat, which can tell you how your cat is faring in their facility.

The Silver Package, in contrast, simply offers two free-roaming sessions in their activity room. This is a good choice if you’re simply leaving your cat for a few days while you handle other responsibilities.

We also liked that they offer three types of accommodations: Condo, Tower, and Suite. Condo offers two levels in the kennel and an activity package of your choice. The Tower, on the other hand, has four levels and can fit two cats.

For their last and biggest accommodation, their Luxury Suite can accommodate multiple cats, plus the Gold Package activity.

However, they’re one of the most expensive on this list, with rates of $33 per night for a condo, $37 for a tower, and $65 for a luxury suite. Despite the cost, we found that they provide excellent accommodations with premium offerings.

Pros

  • Various activity packages to choose from
  • Three choices for accommodation styles
  • Offers digital report cards for your cats
  • High-quality beddings

Cons

  • High rates

A safe and fun place for pets

“Friendly staff. Appears to be a safe and fun place for pets to be. My dog Angel was a “fearful” dog when adopted. He did well on his three day stay. He was groomed as requested and had interactions with other dogs. Was a different more confident young dog when he checked out. I highly recommended !”

— Craig Rohatyn | Google Reviews

Accommodating and knowledgeable staff

“We are really happy with the care Petropolitan provides for our dogs. The staff goes out of their way, even handling high-maintenance requests like hand-feeding one of my dogs. They genuinely got to know our boys, making sure they feel at home, whether it’s for a day or three weeks. Huge thank you to the entire Petropolitan team.”
