The Best Auto Wreckers in Calgary
Here are the criteria we used in selecting our entries:
1. Bill’s Scrap Car
Quality of services | 4/5 |
Availability | 5/5 |
Terms and conditions | 4/5 |
Payment (A higher score means better value) | 5/5 |
Bill’s Scrap Car has been eliminating all unwanted, damaged, and old cars in Calgary for over 30 years. They specialize in quick and easy junk car disposal assistance, making them ideal if you want a quick buck for your old vehicle.
We consider them experts when it comes to simple and convenient car disposal advice – whether you have a broken-down vehicle or simply want to get rid of it for good. This is, of course, thanks to 3 decades of experience and knowledgeable staff.
Aside from their scrap service, they’ve been extremely helpful in other ways too. Clients reported that they received hassle-free assistance from transporting to the collection, clearing, or even dismantling of scrap cars.
Bill’s Scrap Car pays cash for all purchases and recycles scrap cars and vehicles at a fair price. They keep their word on the price that they quoted, which is a valuable matter to us in this kind of trade (having met a fair share of dishonest dealers ourselves).
However, for whatever reason, they don’t really cater to online inquiries so you won’t be able to get online quotes from them. We do like how informative their website is, though, even if it’s lacking the functionality to make things more convenient.
On the good side, Bill’s Scrap Car helps its reputation by recycling and reusing the parts they collect. Plus, they’re a very straightforward option that gets straight to business without much paperwork to worry about.
Pros
- 30 years in the business
- Specializes in quick and easy junk car disposal
- Pays in cash
- Hassle-free transaction
- Solid customer assistance in various services
- Honest quotation
Cons
- No online quotation
Quick, efficient
I needed an old car removed from my property and I called Bill. He came over within a couple of hours of me calling him and took the car away quickly and efficiently. He kept his word on the amount that he quoted and I’m very pleased with his service overall. I will definitely use his service again in the future and I highly recommend him. – Ndu Uwaga
Reasonable offer, straightforward
Bill was quick to respond with our quote, he was punctual, and very accommodating! He made us a reasonable offer for our scrap car based on practical assessment and a straight-forward paperwork process. Would **highly** recommend this business, especially over the local corporate low ballers. – Calvin Ames
2. Bowness Auto Parts
Quality of services | 4/5 |
Availability | 5/5 |
Terms and conditions | 4/5 |
Payment (A higher score means better value) | 4/5 |
Bowness Auto Parts have been serving the locals of Calgary for over 50 years now, providing auto parts services and, of course, wrecking cars for disposal. The experience is almost unbeatable but there are other things that make them stand out.
They primarily scrap for car parts, but clients can also call them to wreck entire vehicles under certain conditions. This is a great choice if you want to completely dispose of your car forever, particularly if it’s an old, unused, non-working unit.
Bowness Auto Parts also won our favor with their respectable customer service. To ensure solid customer care, the store has 13 people and has 3 delivery vehicles, all of which are concentrated in the greater Calgary area.
As mentioned, the company also provides other auto services, such as tracking down the right auto parts Calgary drivers need. They’ve partnered with other large auto parts businesses for this, but use car salvage services if they fail to locate a part.
Clients can actually make product requests through their website, which is a nice feature for convenient and fast searching. However, we find it disappointing that, unlike other businesses, they don’t have an online inventory to scan through.
Needless to say, this has no bearing on our opinion of Bowness Auto Parts as an auto wrecker. After all, they are Calgary’s oldest and most experienced auto wrecking and parts store.
Pros
- 50 years in business
- Scraps car parts
- Offers general car wrecking services
- Excellent customer service
- Also offers auto parts services
- Buys scrap vehicles for a reasonable price
Cons
- Minor inconvenience issue with their website
Respectful, helpful staff
This place is where customer service intersects with knowledge. I love the staff here. They are extremely respectful and helpful. They are consistently lower in price compared to the big shops. I drive all the way from Airdrie for parts and I always leave here with a smile on my face. Lifelong customer earned – Allan
Been here a few times to buy a few things since moving to Calgary a few years ago. Staff is always friendly and they have a good selection of auto parts for your needs. – Brad P
3. AAA Cash For Cars Calgary
Quality of services | 3/5 |
Availability | 5/5 |
Terms and conditions | 4/5 |
Price (A higher score means better value) | 4/5 |
AAA Cash For Cars Calgary is a reputable auto wrecker in Calgary that won us over with their flexible services. They deal in all car makes and models, so whatever kind of vehicle you want to get rid of, they can assist you.
It’s no secret that some companies try to tow away junk cars for free, and in some cases, they charge for towing. However, what distinguishes AAA Cash for Cars is that they come to you to do their service.
When it comes to that, what they primarily do is exchange cash for whatever problem your vehicle brings you. They can either scrap your car or just get rid of it for good for a reasonable fee (depending on the vehicle’s condition)
They pay cash which is advantageous because they don’t charge a set rate, giving you more room to get more money for your car’s value. This also implies that they don’t treat every car as a scrap car, which we greatly appreciated.
However, when it comes to terms, AAA Cash for Cars is very clear and tough (both for good and bad). Once you’ve been paid in cash, there’s no going back – you have to be 100% sure if you really want them to dispose of your vehicle.
The real drawback though is that we find them quite rude when we called to inquire, although other clients said the opposite thing. Inconsistent with customer service as they are, we still like them as they get the job done fast at a great value.
Pros
- 20+ years experience
- Deals in all car makes and models
- Personally collects the vehicle
- Pays cash based on the condition of the vehicle
Cons
- Strict on terms
- Poor customer service at times
Positive experience, prompt service
He came to look at my old car; he was prompt, courteous and very professional. It was a very positive experience and I would recommend giving them a call, as they did offer me more for my car than the other guys.
4. Brar Brothers Auto Parts
Quality of services | 5/5 |
Availability | 4/5 |
Terms and conditions | 3/5 |
Payment (A higher score means better value) | 4/5 |
Brar Brothers Auto Parts is a great option if you’re looking for car services in Calgary. They have over 35 years of experience and provide a wide range of services including towing, scrap and auto removal, buy and sell, and, of course, auto wrecking.
They pay cash for scrap vehicles – in fact, any type of vehicle – as long as they can manage to scrap it for its parts.
BB picks up vehicles for free, so you won’t have to worry about extra charges when you call them. However, we recommend having more patience because they can be difficult to reach by phone.
On the plus side, records show the unmatched quality of their service for being both fast and efficient. Not to mention affordable and reliable auto assistance, which totally accounts for their wide client base beyond Calgary.
However, we continue to find reviews from dissatisfied customers, indicating that their service is inconsistent at times. Our experience, on the other hand, was really good, although we can’t say the same thing for all future customers.
Overall, Brar Brothers Auto Parts is a fast and efficient auto wrecker that buys scrapped vehicles in cash. If you prefer a simple hand-to-hand deal, they’re a good recommendation.

Terms and conditions | 4/5 |
Payment (A higher score means better value) | 3/5 |
Allen & Sons Auto Recyclers accepts old or unused vehicles for recycling and sells auto and truck parts. They salvage cars at a reasonable price which is perhaps one of the best things about this auto wrecker.
They buy cars whether they’re still running or not, regardless of the model. Clients can call them to pick up vehicles they want to get rid of and receive payment based on the vehicle’s condition.
Unfortunately, they can take a long time to pay which is something to take note of when you deal with them.
For the most part, Allen & Sons Auto Recyclers provides auto parts, and they’re pretty great at their job. From what we’ve heard, they’re very persistent in tracking down relatively difficult parts, which most of their clients appreciated.
They also have a 24-hour online store, making it easy to hunt for scrap auto parts. Though they provide actual service only on weekdays, it’s still a nice feature to help clients see if they carry specific parts for their cars.

Friendly staff, best wrecker experience
I was very happy with my experience with this company. I have a rare car that almost never hits wreckers, so I was able to snag a price far better than typical online sources for used parts which usually command an unrealistic premium. The staff were friendlier than typical for such a business, and they delivered the parts to Calgary for free. Honestly my best experience with a wrecker ever, and I deal with such companies a fair amount. Highly recommend. – Jeff Kloubek
6. A-1 Honda Auto Parts
Quality of services | 4/5 |
Availability | 3/5 |
Terms and conditions | 3/5 |
Payment (A higher score means better value) | 4/5 |
When it comes to providing auto parts, A-1 Honda Auto Parts sure do know their thing. Fortunately, they are also one of the go-to auto wreckers in the city, and we’ll explain why.
For starters, their industry reputation is not at all to be overlooked. The company is part of a renowned organization called the Members of the Alberta Auto Recycling and Dismantling Association.
This literally means that their main goal is to recycle car parts that they scrap from every vehicle they service. They not only salvage damaged vehicles, but they also conserve their valuable resources.
Perhaps the obvious drawback of this company is that they don’t cater to all kinds of vehicles. As their name suggests, they only provide service to clients who have any kind of Honda or Acura car.
If they’re a good fit, we believe they’re totally worth the job.
Well, if your vehicle is completely destroyed, they can certainly assist in salvaging it. However, if your vehicle can still be saved, they have most of the auto parts in the market that you may require.
A-1 Honda Auto Parts is still a good place to go if you don’t know what to do with your old car. Plus, we’ve heard they’re a joy to work with, so we have no reservations about their demeanor.
Pros
- Member of the Alberta Auto Recycling and Dismantling Association
- Scraps parts for recycles
- Specifically deals with Honda or Acura cars
- Wide inventory of auto parts
Cons
- Doesn’t service all types of vehicles
- No online quotations
